Natural stone profile: Rojo Alicante marble
We continue here our series of articles about some of the most important Spanish natural stones. This time we present you the Rojo Alicante, a unique red coloured marble that has been doing the wonders of architects and decorators from all over the world for decades.
Background
The Rojo Alicante is explored around the town of Monovar, which is located nearby Alicante, in the region of Valencia – southeastern of Spain. The quarries are considered of medium-large dimension, with exploration areas with a variable width and divided in several layers. The blocks extracted can have small to large dimension.
Description
The Rojo Alicante is a red coloured marble, with fine grain and variable light reddish tones. It may present some occasional white veinage and few fossils remains. Its main variations depend normally on the intensity of the red colour, the abundance of the white veinage and the possibility of having greenish or yellowish coloured spots.
Recommended applications
The Rojo Alicante is an internationally recognized Spanish natural stone, with different applications found pretty much everywhere. But the types of applications that have given the most credit to this marble are found in interior decoration and flooring (essentially interior applications). It is common to find amazing applications of the Rojo Alicante in fireplaces, diverse furniture, bathroom design and others.
